Capo Caccia is famous for its underground labyrinths and mysterious caves. Discovered in 1700, the most famous is Grotta di Nettuno which can be visited both from the sea - by boat - and from the mainland by climbing the Escala del Cabirol - with 656 steps, built in 1954. These stairs lead straight to the cave. Capo Caccia is one of the most unspoiled places in Sardinia. On land, an extraordinary nature reserve was established in 1970, which covers almost three thousand hectares. It is a wonderful garden full of unique plants on a global scale. But Capo Caccia is also the perfect spot for diving enthusiasts - there are around 20 different dive sites including the famous Grotta di Nereo. The sea water is crystal clear and the flooded caves are full of colorful fish and marine plants, including red corals.
